CARRIE WU is a fashion designer and just finished her master of fashion in London. She grew up in Hong Kong but now based in London. 

First Collection

Her first collection “Virgin Queen Metallia” at her alma mater, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s 2008 PolyU fashion Show was well received. It was awarded the 1st runner-up, which eventually won the Successful Design Award. A blogger uploaded Carrie’s collection photos, commenting it as audience favorite in the show. Another audience uploaded a video of her runway show on youtube, which turned out to be a top google video search in “POLYU Fashion Show 2008”. The famous Taiwanese artist Gwei Lun-Mei also wore Carrie’s dress in an opening of a shopping mall.  

Work

The success brings her in the fashion world. She has worked as a fashion designer in several famous fashion brands in Asia, to name but a few, D-Mop, which has imported Y3, Stella McCartney, See by Chloe and so on; Bauhaus, which is a publicly traded company and imports Super Dry in Hong Kong; TAL apparel Limited, which is an inno-factory based company to responsible for many international brand’s production including Burberry, Brooks Brothers, Hugo Boss...etc. 

Scholarship

During her study time, she was selected as an Outstanding Student in Intellectual Development of Preferred Graduates and received a number of phenomenal scholarships including the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship, which has recently begun collaboration with the University of Oxford; the Frank Lin Fashion Traveling Scholarship and the Institute of Textiles & Clothing Scholarship. 

Recently, she was awarded the Textile Alliance Scholarship, which is a full scholarship for her studies in London.  

Art & Volunteer 

Art is vital to her life. She has done lots of volunteer works, workshops, exhibitions to art, culture, and fashion. She volunteered in Japan for one month for the “2012 Echigo Tsumari Art Triennial”. In Shanghai Expo (2010), she acted as a Hong Kong Ambassador, to promote Hong Kong’s culture. She organised various types of workshops including leadership, creativity, fashion design and to name but a few in the secondary school she graduated from, as well as the Jockey Club Scholarship Alumni Association. In 2009, she supported the first Design Mart@Detour and exhibited her art pieces.
